Frances Joan Henry born November 10, 1916, died on November 3, 2009, just short of her 93rd birthday. A viewing will be held at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro, on Monday, November 9th from noon with a rosary at 7:00 pm. The Funeral will be held at St. Felicitas Church, 1662 Manor Blvd., San Leandro, on November 10 at 10:00 am. Frances was a devout Catholic, married to Alexander Frasier Henry. She was born in Central City, Nebraska and moved to California with her husband and 4 children; Jim, Jean, Sheila and Nancy in 1952. Frances and Alexander had 3 more children; George, Charlotte and Molly in California. She is survived by all her 7 children plus 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was widowed in 1965, and raised the children on her own from that point. She never remarried, although she was very attractive and had many suitors. Frances was a full time mother and household manager until the death of her husband, and went back to work as a legal secretary and eventually for the State of California employment department until she retired in 1982. Frances Joan Henry lived an full and energetic life, she was a strong matriarch and leader in her family and civic life. She was a terrific bridge partner. She also loved to write, and in fact, she wrote a book about her life in Nebraska "Memoirs of a Cornhusker". She loved ballroom dancing. She was an extraordinary singer and led to the "Mother Singers" in the mid 1960's. She belonged to St. Felicitas church choirs; she was famous for belting out a good hymn on Sunday with Katie Ogburn.
